To this point in life, I'm not one for traditions. I find them to be somewhat stifling and obligatory and I'm not all that interested in doing something just because "we've always done it." However, despite my disinterest in traditions, I think we may have found one...cutting our Christmas Tree at Robert's Tree Farm the day after Thanksgiving with the RCG church family. We had quite a blast even though it was raining and I had a terrible head cold. Steve spotted and cut down the perfect tree. We realized after it was cut that it actually stands 9 1/2 feet tall...our ceilings are 8 feet...we'll figure out the details later! Jonathan slept through the whole experience but Grandma B and I took plenty of pictures to tell him about it later. He did, however, wake up for part of the ride home and thoroughly enjoyed his complimentary candy cane.

Yay tree cutting...welcome to the tradition! :o)
ReplyDeleteUm, so I know this is not what I'm SUPPOSED to notice, but ... STEVE IS A NOTRE DAME FAN?!? How did I not know this for all of these years?
ReplyDeleteOh, and way to brave the torrential rain to get your Meister Family Christmas Tree! Yey!
P.S. I didn't know you guys got a new car ... or did I? Man, I'm learning so many new things from this post! LOL.
I have wanted to post a comment here for some time and didn't know how.
ReplyDeleteMaybe this will work.
Grandma Anita
Hi Grandma! Thanks for posting...it did work :)
ReplyDeleteFun blog! Maybe next year we'll have sun! Oh well, every year produces it's own special memories. Great to have you along!
ReplyDeleteYEAH!!! I can now chat too!!! THANKS!!! Love the tree and boo on no traditions :D
ReplyDeleteShannon, the new car is because of their crazy friend Natalie, which is me, who had NO wrecks in LA when I lived there, but came to visit and drove their car and well, you see the new car...
ReplyDeleteI love that Steve put one of those "fertility god" things on his car and in his house...all for the sake of a little tradition and creating fun childhood memories for jonathan! And since jonathan won't remember this, it is really for steve...amazing. I thought he'd never budge!
We are so glad you are part of the tradition! You will have to come over and see our tree. Yours would be like the Empire State Building and ours a studio in downtown Sacramento. :)
