The 7 Hardest Things God Asks A Woman To Do

I love to read! I mostly read devotional-type books and the recent one I completed was The 7 Hardest Things God Asks A Woman To Do by Kathie Reimer and Lisa Whittle.

The first chapter drew me in when I read, "When do women ever get to single-focus? Never. Never, ever, ever. Multi-tasking is a way of daily life for us. Doing only one thing at a time is a luxury saved for birthdays or anniversaries when some kind-hearted somebody allows you a long, luxurious bath without a child playing in the bathroom beside you, dumping non-water-resistant objects into your bath or knocking wildly at the door, crying, 'Can I come in, Mommy?'"

Later in the chapter I was further drawn in by the statement on to-do lists. "But, as important as being involved in service for him truly is, God's multi-tasking 'to do' list is much more about who we are than what we do. Our spiritual multi-tasking list is really a 'to be' list."

The mother-daughter authors address seven difficult things that might seem contradictory. They are 1) Single Focus/Multi-task, 2) Be Tolerant/Intolerant, 3) Fail/Succeed, 4) Proceed/Wait, 5) Hold On/Let Go, 6) Lead/Follow and 7) Live/Die. Each woman has a very different personality which comes out in her writing style. You may prefer one over the other but both share truths of God's Word.

If you choose to pick this one up, I hope that you, too, will be encouraged and find yourself working on a to-be list rather than just a to-do list. Happy reading :)
