Love, Teach, Pray - Part 4

The last point of participation is prayer – praying for our children. James 5:16, “The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.” The Lord has used the countless prayers of many mothers over thousands of years to build His kingdom. And He may choose to use yours as well. So I encourage you to pray for your children; be specific and be earnest. Pray for them before they are born, for their day to day lives, for their future and most importantly pray for their salvation. Jean provides three guidelines which are helpful (p. 104):

1. Pray for them to have a place in the kingdom – pray for each child’s salvation.
2. Pray that they would be a credit to the kingdom – that each child will develop a godly character.
3. Pray that they would be used to promote the kingdom – that each child will become a servant of others.

I do hope you are encouraged today. Encouraged to love, to teach and to pray knowing that it is the love of Christ you are sharing with your children and that it is the Holy Spirit that will enable you to do so. What a privilege it is to participate with God in the salvation of our children!
